Salman Khan set a benchmark for the ultimate Boy Scout with his Bajrangi Bhaijaan act, and now he surprises us even more. His character is so virtuous that you will walk out of the theatre fighting a morality crisis. He has a counterpart in Maithili who is solidly under-pressure to perform as per the royal decree.(more)

Movie Review
Sooraj's hold on the script is evident from the commencement of the film itself as he moves from one episode to another swiftly. Like always, the hallmark of his films is the undercurrent of emotions and PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO depicts the familial bonding and the conflict amongst family members skilfully. Additionally, he uses vibrant colours [costumes, sets] and opulence to make it a visually arresting experience. In short, the drama is captivating, the emotional moments are punctuated wonderfully in the narrative [more so towards the second and third acts] and the finale, when the key questions are answered, enhances the seamless narrative. Sonam's dignified but this is a Salman Khan show!
In PRDP, Sooraj retains his �family drama� finesse; only this time the backdrop is grander than his previous films. There�s a bit of action added; the heroine is less guarded and the male protagonist has a roguish appeal even within his sugarcoated demeanour. The screenplay is classic Barjatya style � playful in the first half with conflict and intensity in the second. The film is lavish, full of color and impeccably filmed by ace cinematographer Manikandan.(more)

Prem works. Rest is just rah-rah!
PRDP is saddled with Barjatya's penchant for throwing in one song after another. Even if resplendent to look at, there are just too many of them and barring the title track, not particularly catchy either. Speaking of music, think I caught a hint of the Game of Thrones theme performed by a wedding band in the background. Cannot imagine the genteel Barjatya is a fan of the famously violent TV series.(more)

Salman is real 'ratan' in this tradition-soaked romance
Prem Ratan... is visually arresting, especially when we see the visual flourishes like the "sheesh mahal" that is a maze in itself. But the film is marred by a rambling second-half that goes on and on, and an awful score that often sounds like a nursery rhyme tune.(more)
