A nautch girl's escape from the ignoble life of Mumbai's kothas, to finding love and living her dream
Vishwas Patil probably had a heart-wrenching story, but he's unable he exploit his cast well, or narrate a tale that's coherent, consistent or engaging. Randomness rules! Events unfold - forced and futile. Dialogues with zero-impact (some laughable) find their way into this mehfil of mess. Well, the social message is good, but Rajjo's trials and tragedies don't evoke a tear of emotion or grief. Most of all, the direction, execution and music is stuck in bygone era.(more)

Its a love story set against the backdrop of the decaying Kothas of Mumbai.
RAJJO is a well-intentioned movie made with gracious objectives of drawing one's attention to the genuine issues that plague the society(more)

Kangana Ranaut was better as a shape-shifting alien seductress in 'Krrish 3'
There's nothing Arora can do, other than look young and innocent and hairless. And break into song every once in a while. And there's nothing Kangana Ranaut, looking equally fresh-faced, can do other than be hopelessly miscast. She tries hard, biting her lip suggestively while offering 'paan' to the besotted Chandu, and saying such lines as : 'kisi ke pyaar mein padne ke liye main bazaar mein nahin baithi'. I much preferred her as a shape-shifting alien seductress in last week's super-hero drama.(more)

Rajjo is a horribly confused film
The makers had enough material to work with given the setting of the story. However, there's a lot that goes unexplored -- Rajjos trauma from being used as an object, Chandus sheltered upbringing and inability to face the real world, the politics of the kotha and the despicable men who visit prostitutes.(more)
