Talvar Trailer Review – A crime-thriller to watch out for!
Divay Agarwal
Although we haven’t witnessed a lot of good films this year but crime-thrillers and mysteries has been the silver lining so far. Films like Baby, Detective ByomkeshBakshy, Rahasya and Drishyam have not only brought back the missing genre into Bollywood again but also had very engaging storylines. And as far as the trailer goes, ‘Talvar’ is certainly going to join this league.
‘Talvar’ is a film based on ‘AarushiTalwar Murder Case’ which is one of the most controversially popular cases ever in India. The film is directed by MeghnaGulzar, the daughter of the great poet/writer/lyricist/director Gulzar and stars veteran actors like Irrfan Khan, NeerajKabi, Konkana Sen Sharma and Atul Kumar. Vishal Bhardwaj has not only produced the movie but also penned down the script and composed the music for this film with lyrics by Gulzar.
A 14-year old girl named ShrutiTandon is found dead one morning by her parents (NeerajKabi and Konkana Sen Sharma) and after investigations and interrogations, the police holds the father responsible for the murder. However, there is a whole other side to this story which the investigating officerAshwin Kumar (Irrfan Khan) brings to notice on further investigations. But the question lies here is whether the father is guilty or not and if not, who is to blame?
Though the movie looks pro-parents but nothing can be said until one watched the whole film. The trailer is very engaging and the presence of class people both in front and behind the camera makes it an even more special and anticipated film.Irrfan Khan looks phenomenal once again and so does Konkana but real show-stealers here just might be NeerajKabi and Atul Kumar as although fantastic, they are less known by masses.
The background music looks appealing and towards the end of the trailer is a sneak peek of the song ‘Jis Din Samay Ne AankhenKholi’, a trademark Vishal Bhardwaj song. Also there’s a dialogue, a senior person says to Irrfan Khan “Tumneinsaafkemurtidekhihai? Us murtikehaathmeinektalvarbhihai, magarpichlesaatsaalonmeinusmpezang lag gayahai” (The Lady Justice also carries a sword in her hand, but it’s gone rusty since the last 60 years) which tells us how rich will be the movie in terms of writing. The last film Mr. Bhardwaj wrote was ‘Haider’ and we know how brilliant it turned out to be!
I am really excited for this film and will definitely suggest you to go watch it in cinemas on the 2nd of October and request you to also spread the word!
