The Gabbar Is Back press conference in Dubai

Akshay Kumar is shooting for Airlift right now in the UAE, the multi-tasking actor took some time out from his busy schedule to talk to the local media about his next Gabbar is Back at Ras Al Khaimah.

“I did Gabbar is Back because of corruption. I always want to do films, which has some message but in a very commercial way, like I did Baby which is about unsung heroes and Oh My God, which is about religion,” said Akshay at a press conference held on Tuesday at Waldorf Astoria Hotel, RAK.

“Obviously I do commercial cinema as well like Singh is King and Namaste London. But with Gabbar is Back I got the opportunity to talk about corruption in a commercial manner.”

The actor stressed that he is very impressed with the low crime rates in the UAE. “If I may ask you, what is the crime rate in Dubai? I am sure it is very less, like zero point something because of the strictness of law. You know what I mean? But in India it is not. So you need a name like Gabbar, who may behave like a villain but his actions are like a hero.”

Gabbar is Back will release in the UAE on April 30.

Gabbar is Back starring Akshay Kumar, Shruthi Hassan and Prakash Raj in the lead roles is directed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The film is set to hit the screens on May 1.

Gabbar is Back is the Hindi remake of Tamil film Ramana directed by AR Murugadoss which released in 2002.  The movie deals with fight against corruption.
