Alia Bhatt paired opposite Shahid Kapoor in Udta Punjab

Shahid Kapoor plays the lead role in Abhishek Chaubey’s next movie titled Udta Punjab. Earlier there were reports that Kareena Kapoor has been approached for the leading lady in the film. While there were lot of speculations regarding the leading lady of the film, the director has finally confirmed that Alia Bhatt will be playing the female lead. 

Alia Bhatt is currently working with Shahid Kapoor in "Shaandaar" directed by Vikas Bahl of 'Queen' fame. Udta Punjab will be her second film with the 'Haider' actor. 

Alia Bhatt has reported opted out of Rock on 2 sequel and has signed on the dotted line for Udta Punjab. The film is expected to go on floors in February.

'Udta Punjab’ is going to be set in North India about rampant drug use in the region.
