Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani cast finalised

The tinsel town as well as the media has been abuzz with speculations about the casting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most ambitious project Bajirao Mastani. Bhansali has now finalised the cast of Bajirao Mastani. Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra will be playing the lead roles. The film will go on floors in October.

While, the names of Shah Rukh, Hrithik Roshan and Ajay Devgn were being tossed around to play Bajirao,  Ranveer Singh was always the frontrunner. Both Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were considered for the role of Mastani.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone sizzled the big screen with their crackling chemistry in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram-Leela’. The film will reportedly have Ranveer Singh playing the historical character of Bajirao, Deepika Padukone as Bajirao’s second wife Mastani, and Priyanka Chopra has his first wife.

Bajirao Mastani is period romance based on the love story of Peshwar Baji Rao and his second wife Mastani. Bhansali had wanted to direct his dream project ‘Bajirao Mastani’ almost 15 years ago but the project couldn't take off though it has been in the news since then.
