Daawat-e-Ishq Trailer Review

Anup Pandey

Dawat-e-Ishq starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra is a love story directed by Habib Faisal, set in the backdrop of the dowry system. Parineeti will be seen playing a Hyderabadi girl in the film while Aditya's character is from Lucknow. One important element in the film is food. The trailer of the film was out yesterday.

Habib Faisal is known for creating strong and rooted characters set in believably real milieu of small town India. The trailer of his third directorial outing promises just that as it introduces Parineeti Chopra as “Hyderabad ki tez Gulrez” and Aditya Kapoor as “Lucknow ka aashiq Tariq”. And both the leads seem to be wearing their respective characters’ dialect at ease. Apart from the two, it will also be a treat to see Anupam Kher in Hyderabadi avatar. We could also sense some sharp and quirky dialogues in store for us. To an extent, this also seems as a food-movie, going by its title and some foods as a recurring element in the trailer.

The most surprising element is its music- it is Sajid-Wajid’s first out and out YRF project. Faisal’s last film Ishaqzaade had a lovely soundtrack by Amit Trivedi. So, the bar for the duo-composer is raised. The musical piece in the trailer does sound exciting; let’s wait for the music to release.

The trailer rushes to end promising too many things, reminiscing very much of Ishaqzaade given the similar treatment. There also seems a ‘con’ angle to this ‘rom-com’ as Kapoor screams “Dhokebaaz” and snap! Well, that’s too much to read from a 2 minute trailer. But, a daawat or a quick meal? 5th September will tell.
