Hombale Films, the banner behind KGF and Kantara, has announced they will be producing Suriya's next film with director TJ Gnanavel, tentatively titled Suriya 48. The project reunites Suriya with Gnanavel after their acclaimed 2021 collaboration Jai Bhim.

Kayadu Lohar is set to play the female lead. Sai Abhyankkar, who recently scored Karuppu, returns to collaborate with Suriya on the music, with SR Kathir on cinematography and Philomin Raj editing. The film marks Hombale Films' second Tamil production after Raghu Thatha.

Speculation has surfaced suggesting the film could be a biopic of the famous Rs 5 doctor of Tamil Nadu, Dr Thiruvengadam Veeraraghavan, with the film reportedly named after him. The makers are yet to confirm this.

Suriya currently has Vishwanath & Sons releasing on August 14 and is filming Suriya 47 with director Jithu Madhavan.
