Actor-turned-politician Vijay has officially unveiled the list of candidates for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, intensifying his party’s campaign around governance and accountability.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief also confirmed that he will be contesting from two constituencies — Trichy East and Perambur, marking a major step in his political debut.

Positioning TVK as a strong alternative, Vijay framed the upcoming elections as a direct contest against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Making a direct appeal to voters, Vijay said, “I urge the people to vote for TVK and our ‘Whistle’ symbol. We are here only for the people, and always for the people.”

He further outlined key promises, emphasising transparency and public welfare. “After winning, we will not misuse public money or indulge in corruption. We will ensure women’s safety, create a drug-free Tamil Nadu, and maintain strict law and order,” he stated, adding that his party would always act in the best interests of the people.

Seeking public support, Vijay said he is asking voters for “one opportunity” to prove his party’s commitment to governance.

On the film front, Vijay is awaiting the release of his final film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, which is reportedly under additional scrutiny amid the election period .
