Actor-filmmaker Sundar C is set to enter politics after three decades in the film industry. In a key development ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, he has been announced as the candidate from the Madurai Central constituency.
Sundar C will represent Puthiya Neethi Katchi (PNK), which is part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He will contest under the AIADMK’s iconic ‘two-leaves’ symbol. The seat allocation was confirmed by PNK, led by AC Shanmugam.
His political entry adds to the growing list of film personalities transitioning into active politics in Tamil Nadu. Notably, Vijay recently launched the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and has been actively campaigning ahead of the elections scheduled for April 23.
Sundar C also has close ties to politics through his wife, Khushbu Sundar, who has been politically active since 2010 and is currently serving as the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu.
An official announcement regarding constituency allocations within the NDA alliance is expected soon.
On the professional front, Sundar C was last seen in Gangers (2025) and is currently working on Purushan alongside Vishal. He is also set to reunite with director Dhorai VZ for an upcoming horror-thriller, marking their third collaboration after Iruttu and Thalainagaram 2.
