Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench joins Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media for Neelira; film releases April 3

Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has shared a new update about the upcoming film Neelira, which is being presented by his banner Stone Bench along with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media. Taking to social media, the director expressed happiness about producing the project and confirmed that the film will release worldwide on April 3, 2026, coinciding with Good Friday.


Calling the project close to his heart, Karthik Subbaraj wrote that Neelira is “a film that I am really happy and proud of producing,” adding that it is an Eelam story directed by an Eelam filmmaker for a mainstream film audience. He also said the film has been made “with all hearts” and expressed gratitude to Rana Daggubati for coming on board to support the project.


Directed by Eelam Tamil filmmaker Someetharan, Neelira is said to be based on the memories of a war child and will recount stories set during the Sri Lankan civil war. The film was first announced in January 2024, and the makers have now locked its theatrical release.


The cast of Neelira includes Vidhu, Kapila Venu, Sanath, Roopa Koduvayur, Rohit D Kokate, Kayal Vincent, Swathy Krishnan, Tharmeega Manimaran, and Sidhu Kumaresan. The film carries the tagline “A Long Night.”


Neelira has cinematography by Selvaratnam Pratheepan and editing by Radha Sridhar, known for films like Hey Sinamika and Ammu. Music for the project is composed by K. The film is produced by Karthik Subbaraj and Kaarthekeyen Santhanam under the Stone Bench banner, with Rana Daggubati and Kalyan Subramanian serving as co-producers. More details about the film are expected to be revealed closer to release.
