Actor-politician Vijay has reportedly been summoned again by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Karur stampede case. The inquiry has been scheduled for March 10, the same day his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is set to begin candidate interviews for all constituencies at its Panaiyur office.
Meanwhile, Vijay has reportedly requested a 15-day postponement of the inquiry, citing previously scheduled political commitments related to the party’s organisational work. He has also sought permission for the CBI inquiry to be conducted at the agency’s Chennai office instead of Delhi.
The investigation pertains to the crowd crush tragedy that occurred on September 27 in Karur, during a rally linked to Vijay’s political activities. The incident reportedly resulted in the death of 41 people, including ten children, 18 women, and 13 men.
The CBI had earlier issued a notice asking Vijay to appear before the agency on January 12, nearly three months after the tragedy took place.
Meanwhile, Vijay has been in the news on multiple fronts. His upcoming film Jana Nayagan is currently awaiting censor clearance after being referred to a revising committee by the Central Board of Film Certification. The committee’s scheduled rewatch of the film was also recently postponed due to a member’s ill health.
