Music composer turned actor GV Prakash, and his playback-singer-wife Saindhavi have parted ways after 11 years of marriage. Taking to their respective Instagram accounts, each of the Tamil film celebrities shared an official statement on their separation. The former couple's statement followed the buzz in Tamil cine circles that the pair, who share a 4 year old daughter are headed for a divorce.
Nephew of the Internationally acclaimed music composer AR Rahman, GV Prakash is the son of playback singer AR Reihana (AR Rahman's elder sister), and the older brother of Tamil actress Bhavai Sre. He debuted as a music composer with Veyil in 2006, and made his acting debut with Darling in 2015.
GV Prakash won the National Award for 'Best Music Direction and Score' for Soorarai Pottru (2020), which includes a famous track sung by Saindhavi titled Kayilae Aagasam, which had backing vocals by GV Prakash.
GV Prakash and Saindhavi were schoolmates, and were in a relationship for 12 years before their wedding. Playback singer Saindhavi who famously debuted with her co-vocals on Andangaka Kondakari from Anniyan (2004), and predominantly sung in Tamil and Telugu ever since, currently serves as a judge on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors 4 on Zee Tamil channel.
GV Prakash and Saindhavi last teamed up on the song Amma Ennum Mandhiramey, that featured on the Vishal starrer Tamil hit Mark Antony (2023). The duo have previously given several award-winning soulful numbers ranging from Yaaro Ivan (Udhayam NH4), Mansellam Mazhaiyae (Saguni), Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil (Deiva Thirumagal), Pirai Thedum Iravilae (Mayakkam Enna), Uyirin Uyire (Thaandavam), to Yaar Indha Saalai Oram (Thalaivaa), Nee Yaaro Yaaro (Raja Rani), Ellu Vaya Pookalaye (Asuran) among others.
