Maamannan is produced and headlined by actor Udhayanidhi Stalin and earlier this month Mari Selvaraj had taken to twitter to welcome Vadivelu on-board by writing, "A recurring dream come true. Vaigai Puyal in Maamannan"

Maamannan is currently being shot in a village backdrop and also stars Keerthy Suresh, Fahadh Faasil among others. The film has A.R. Rahman for music.
