Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar in the lead has been ready for release for about a year now and the release date for a while has been touted to be April 2, 2021 which is a Good Friday. The date was not officially announced due to an ongoing negotiation between the makers and national multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, Cinepolis and Carnival. 

Now it is being widely reported that the said negotiations have come to a standstill and instead of taking the popular direct OTT route, director Rohit Shetty and producers Reliance Entertainment have decided to release Sooryavanshi in theaters but only in single screens and the non-national multiplex screens. 

They are also expected to confirm April 2, 2021 as the official release date for the film which also stars Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh among others.
