Box Office: 'World Famous Lover' turns out to be yet another disaster for Vijay Devarakonda

Vijay Deverakonda's latest outing 'World Famous Lover' directed by Kranthi Madhav hit the screens worldwide on February 14. The romantic drama bagged mixed response, mostly negative from critics and audience. The film which failed to impress the audience has turned out to be yet another disaster for Devarakonda after 'Dear Comrade'. The film has been a complete washout at the Box Office on Day 5 itself.

The film which went to collect a share of Rs. 7.14 cr (Gross - Rs. 12 cr) in Telugu states made a total collection of Rs. 16 cr worldwide in its opening weekend. On Day 4, the film witnessed a sharp decline by earning a share of Rs. 54 lakhs. The collections fell flat on Day 5 by minting Rs. 11 lakhs share. With the worldwide theatrical right of the film sold for Rs. 29 cr, the film has collected a nett share of Rs. 7.7 cr in Telugu states and around Rs. 1.5 cr worldwide.

The film's failure has resulted in a huge loss for most of the distributors in Telugu states as the collections were below par on Day 4 itself. Audience feel that Vijay Deverakonda is yet to come out of Arjun Reddy hangover as his films have some instances or resemblance to that character which have failed to impressed them. Except Geetha Govindam, Vijay's recent films like Taxiwala, NOTA, Dear Comrade and World Famous Lover have failed to create a mark at the Box Office despite his huge popularity.
