We had reported earlier that Mani Ratnam's magnum opus of a film which will be an adaptation of the Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan has a major cast from Tamil cinema and Bollywood. Latest update on this film is that actor Sathyaraj has replaced Telugu actor Mohan Babu to play Periya Pazhuvettarayar on screen.
While there are no official announcements on the project as yet, it is also being suggested that Ponniyin Selvan will be made in 2 parts and the shooting for the first will begin in September, 2019.
The rest of the cast in the film so far is said to be as follows: Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Amitabh Bachchan as Sundara Chozhar, Aishwarya Rai as Nandini, Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan and Keerthy Suresh as Kundavi.
