We had reported last month that Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda will be remade in Telugu with actor Varun Tej as one of the leads, director Harish Shankar at the helm and January, 2019 as the month the film goes on floors.

Now, the project has been officially announced with the title Valmiki and 14 Reels Banner as the production house bankrolling the film. The technical crew of this film includes Devi Sri Prasad for music, Ayanaka Bose for cinematography and Chota K Prasad for the edits.

The film plans to begin shooting in about a month while an official announcement on the rest of the cast is also awaited.
