Karan Johar apologizes after making fun of Assamese 'Jaapi'

If you follow Karan Johar on Instagram, you would know that the film-maker regularly posts videos from the sets of India's Got Talent, a reality show he co-judges with Kirron Kher and Malaika Arora. In one such now-deleted video, Karan could be seen mocking Kirron Kher for wearing a traditional Assamese headgear called Jaapi, that they all received as a gift from one of the contestants.

Further, when Karan was questioned as why he wasn't wearing the hat in the video, he could be heard saying, "Because you have guts, I don't." (indicating that the Jaapi was a bad fashion choice).

Needless to say, this did not go well with the social media users from the North East and post them registering their dismay, Karan has now apologized for his distasteful comment.
