Aamir Khan's period film "Thugs of Hindostan" is one of the hugely anticipated films which hit the screens worldwide on November 8, 2018. The film with an ensemble cast of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya opened to negative reviews from both audience and critics alike. The film has turned out to be a huge disappointment among fans and movie-goers.

Aamir Khan's film has created a new Box Office record on its opening day. The film has collected Rs. 52.5 cr nett (gross Rs. 65 cr) on the first day. Thugs of Hindostan is the first ever Hindi film to have crossed Rs. 50 cr mark on its opening day. Previously Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year which minted Rs. 44.97 cr on its opening day held the record for the highest grossing Bollywood film. The film also registers highest opening day collection for a Diwali release.

The massive pre-release hype and wider release in about 7000 screens worldwide has helped the film to take a gargantuan opening at the ticket window. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures of the film on his Twitter page.

Aamir Khan's film is also the highest grossing film this year beating Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju.
