Ace director Mahesh Bhatt is all set to return to direction after a long gap of 19 years. He will be directing the sequel of his blockbuster film Sadak which hit the screens back in 1991 starring Sanjay Dutt and his daughter Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles. After 27 years since the films release, Mahesh Bhatt is gearing up to make the sequel and has managed to pull off a casting coup of sorts for his upcoming directorial venture.

The announcement was made specially today as it marks the birthday of the ace film maker. The original lead pair Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will be reuniting again for the sequel too. Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor also play the lead roles. This is the first time sister Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt will be sharing the screen space together. Pooja Bhatt who quit acting a long time ago is set to face the camera after 17 years. Interestingly Mahesh Bhatt will be directing his daughter Alia Bhatt for the first time. Alia Bhatt posted on Instagram on her father's birthday.

On returning to the director’s chair, Mahesh Bhatt said, “Like the spider gets its thread from his own guts. The narrative of Sadak 2 is pulled out from my lived life. It’s a film about living, loving and dealing with the anguish of the loss of a loved one."

Sadak 2 produced by Mukesh Bhatt will go on floors next year. The film will hit the screens on 25th March, 2020.
