Actress Trisha has been in the news this weekend for reasons not related to her films, but the income that she made from them. A Madras High court on Thursday dismissed an income tax case filed against Trisha Krishnan, which alleged that the actress had filed returns of Rs. 89.69 lakh for the financial year 2010-2011 though her revised income tax return filed in 2012 stated her income the previous year to be of Rs 4.41 crore and thus a penalty of Rs. 1.16 crore was being demanded for non-disclosure of income.

The case however was dismissed and the judges observed that Trisha had disclosed amount received as advance for movies in 2011 in the balance sheet filed along with the IT return for 2010-11 and could not be accepted as charge of concealment . Apparently, the actress had earlier appealed with the IT department and the IT commissioner had decided in her favour too. However, an IT appellate tribunal withheld the commissioner's decision and moved the High Court to pass a judgement on the same.
