Actor Ajith appointed adviser to MIT's drone project

Tamil actor Ajith who is known to take an keen interest in the field of flying (besides being a trained pilot himself), is making headlines for receiving an appointment as the Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Adviser for the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chennai. The appointment was made public on Thursday, before which the star actor is said to have volunteered to be a past of MIT's team Daksha, which was to participate in an advanced competition for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). 

Reportedly, Ajith will be paid Rs. 1000 per visit which he intends to donate towards the education fund of the MIT students. His first assignment will be with this Daksha team, where they will be working together to build a drone for the Medical Express-2018 UAV Challenge, a prestigious competition that poses a task to build a drone that will fly from a lab to a patient stranded in a remote location, pick up his blood samples, and return to the lab.
 
Teams from over a 100 countries will be seen participating while only 55 will make it to the second round and the final round will take place in Australia, in September this year.
