Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma have been grabbing headlines for being selected to be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award, 2018; former for his 'memorable role' in Padmaavat and the latter for being a 'path-braking producer.' However, what many have misconstrued is that the young actors are being conferred with is the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which is India's highest award in the field of cinema. Unlike the origial awards presented by the government of India, the Excellence Award have been only around since 2016 and are pretty much like any other film awards presented to people from the film industry.
Nevertheless, the excellence award which is named after the ‘Father of Indian Cinema’, Dadasaheb Phalke, is already Ranveer's third award this year for his film and is Anushka's first this year. The complete list of winners are expected to be announced too, who will then be honoured at the annual function held in a plush hotel of Mumbai.
