Malayalam superstar Mammootty will be essaying the role of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy in his biopic titled Yatra. Mahi V Raghav will be helming the biopic, which will go on floors in May 2018. 

A statement from the makers confirms Mammootty being signed for the lead role. The movie will start rolling in May 2018 and the shoot will be wrapped up by September 2018. The makers are planning to release the movie between Dasara 2018 and Sankranthi 2019.

Mammootty will begin shooting for the film, which will focus on the famous ‘Padayatra’ undertaken by the late YSR in 2004, in June. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. Yatra is written and directed by Mahi V Raghav and produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy under their banner 70mm Entertainments. The film will be made on a huge budget of Rs. 30 crore.
