Vairamuthu - Aandal Controversy : Actor Prasanna furious with Nithyananda's followers

PUBLISHED DATE | 22/Jan/2018

Despite the clarifications and the in-flow of support from majority of the section, the Vairamuthu-Aandal controversy continues to hog the limelight; thanks to the multiple expletive videos being released by the "followers" of Hindu extremist 'Swami' Nithyananda. In what has come as a shocker to many, these videos show followers as young as school-going teens condemning lyricist Vairamuthu, unabashedly abusing him and talking about "beating the women" of his family on the road. Furious with the way the whole incident is being treated, Tamil actor Prasanna who incidentally hails from Tiruchirapalli (also home to Srivilliputhur Andal Temple where the whole incident began) has strongly come out against the group and said,

"Honestly the ones degrading the Hindu religion are the followers of Nithyananda. This is a group that must be destroyed. Sudikodutha sudarkodi (Andal) must burn these people."

It is worth mentioning here that a written complaint has been filed with the Karnataka Police demanding action on the said videos under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). Many pro-Hindu outfits including the BJP who were against Vairamuthu in this whole controversy have declared political mileage to be the reason behind these offensive videos.
