Santhanam's KLTA runs into trouble
Santhanam’s maiden production venture ‘Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya’ is set to hit the screens for Pongal on January 13. Sanathanam, Powerstar Sreenivasan, Sethu and Vishakha Singh play the lead roles in KLTA directed by Manikandan. The film is produced by Santhanam jointly with Rama Narayanan. Udaynidhi Stalin’s ‘Red Giant Movies’ is distributing the film and the theatre booking is currently in progress. The film is likely to be released in around 250 screens in Tamil Nadu.
As a sudden turn of events, veteran filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj has filed a complaint against the makers accusing them of remaking his yesteryear film ‘Indru Poi Naalai Vaa’ without acquiring proper rights from him. Indru Poi Naalai Vaa which was released way back in 1981 is about three friends who fall for the same girl. K. Bhagyaraj owns the story rights and had planned to remake the film with his son Shantnoo Bhagyaraj in the lead.
Bhagyaraj who was upset on learning that the storyline of KLTA is similar to his classic cult comedy Indru Poi Naalai Vaa had lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police. He will be filing a law suit against the producers demanding a compensation of 2 crores and will also request the court to stop the release of the film for not acquiring proper rights.
