Latest on Saamy 2, which is director Hari's sequel to his 2003 blockbuster Saamy is that the film is due to begin shooting from early September, 2017. The film will commence from Chennai after which it will be shot across Delhi, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Nainital and Kathmandu, followed by Tirunelveli, Palani, Sivakasi and Kerala. Also the song shoots have been planned at Missouri and a few foreign locales. Saamy 2 will see Vikramand Trisha reprising their respective roles and also has Keerthy Suresh as the new addition. The film's supporting cast includes Prabhu, Delhi Ganesh, John Vijay, Soori and Imman Annachi. The film was last in the news for considering actor Bobby Simha to play the antagonist with the actor confirming he is yet to sign the dotted lines. 

The movie is said to have high octane action stunts with the villain character said to be more intense than Perumal Pichai, the villain character in the prequel. Saamy 2 will be bankrolled by producer Shibu Thameens and is expected to wrap shooting by January, 2018.
