MovieCrow Box Office Report - December 1-4

Vijay Antony's Saithan and Vishnu Vishal's Maaveeran Kittu had hit the screens last weekend, with the former garnering more attention, thanks to the blockbuster status of Vijay Antony's last film, Pichaikkaran. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Saithan

Debutant Pradeep Krishnamoorthy's Saithan received mixed reviews from the critics, but the movie took a good opening due to growing craze of Vijay Antony. The movie, which starts off on an interesting note, loses fizz midway and meanders a lot towards the end. We will have to wait and watch if the movie turns out to be another hit for Vijay Antony.

2. Maaveeran Kittu

This Vishnu Vishal starrer, directed by Suseenthiran, earned critical acclamation for its balanced portrayal of the caste-based discrimination. However, the movie was only the second option for the masses during last weekend.

Other Movies

Jiiva's Kavalai Vendam and GV Prakash's Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru ran across a handful of screens with low occupancy levels, while Gautham Menon - STR's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada was still going strong across the multiplexes.

Upcoming week's release

Venkat Prabhu's much anticipated Chennai 600028 II will be hitting the screens this weekend. It'd be interesting to see if the movie manges to become a runway hit like its prequel.
