Mammootty and Ranjith's next titled Puthanpanam - The New Indian Rupee

Mammootty who is all set to act under his favourite director Ranjith Balakrishnan, has reportedly received a new title for his movie. Titled Puthanpanam -The New Indian Rupee, the movie marks the team up of the actor and director for the ninth time. It is to be noted that Ranjith has earlier director a movie starring Prithiviraj Sukumaran under a similar name (Indian Rupee) which went on to gain him a National Film Award and a Kerala State Award. But unlike his earlier venture, Puthanpanam will deal with black money and its distribution in India. The movie is said to include the latest development of demonetisation as an important element.

Actress Iniya will be seen playing the female lead of Puthanpanam. The technical crew includes Shahabaz Aman for the music and Om Prakash for cinematography. Renji Panicker, Saikumar, Mamukkoya, Hareesh Perumanna, Siddique and Joju George will be seen as a part of the supporting cast. The movie is expected to begin on November 24, 2016.
