Movies This Week – Aligarh, Revenant, Vettah and Kshanam are must-watches

This weekend was a mixed bag at the movie halls, with movies getting overwhelming to fair reviews from critics and audience alike. Check out how the latest movies were received by movie buffs.

Kanithan (Tamil)

Atharvaa’s Kanithan was praised for its unique storyline by its director Santhosh, but the critics felt that the movie could have been much tauter. The movie is currently rated 49% on MovieCrow.

Aarathu Sinam (Tamil)

Arulnithi’s Aarathu Sinam, touted as a faithful remake of Malayalam blockbuster hit Memories, is let down by unwanted commercial compromises. The movie is currently rated 54% on MovieCrow.

Aligarh (Hindi)

Undoubtedly, Aligarh, which is based on the real life incidences of professor Siras, has been one of the best movies to have released this year. With the movie getting amazing reviews across the nation, this is one movie which you might not want to miss on the big screen. The movie gets MCPick and is currently rated 80% on MovieCrow.

Kshanam (Telugu)

Kshanam is being lauded as one of the best thrillers that emerged out of Tollywood in recent years.  The movie gets MCPick and is currently rated 68% on MovieCrow.

The Revenant (English)

The Revenant  was the unanimous choiceof multiplex audiences and Leonardo DiCaprio might just win an Oscar for his breathtaking performance. 

Other Movies

Bollywood Diaries (Hindi) gets average reviews and is currently rated at 53% on MovieCrow. Tere Bin Laden 2 (Hindi) could not be as effective as its prequel and is currently rated 45% on MovieCrow. Late director Rajesh Pillai’s Vettah (Malayalam) gets fairly positive reviews and is currently rated 63% on MovieCrow.
