Welcome to Karachi Movie Review : Promising idea wasted

It pains at times to see how a potentially good idea runs into absolute mayhem territory owing to lack of direction. Welcome to Karachi must have been a rollicking farce on paper; on screen it is a bad mess of gags stitched together for the sake of it.

Jacky plays a guy who wants to go to Amreeka but can't cause his visa never gets approved. In comes Arshad who promises to take him to the promised land without a visa; via a boat. Both end up reaching Karachi instead. In enemy territory without valid paper work and absolutely no sense or intelligence the duo end up in the midst of terrorists. How they escape back is the rest of this dismal film.

There is little one expected from this film. Arshad delivers and gives in another reliable performance but then how many times more can we see him do the same thing? Jacky too doesn't disappoint he is as bad as one has known him to be. Hamming along to glory he manages to haunt us once again. Lauren is the female attraction in this film but has very little to do on screen. Rest of the cast is on a paid vacation and has not really bothered to act.

Bad music, weird editing, choppy narrative, the list of things wrong with the film is endless. One wishes there was something at least that would warrant a watch in the cinemas but sadly nothing rises above the lack lustre trailer of the film. Avoid like the plague.
