Ek Paheli Leela Movie Review - Sunny all the way

Ameet Bhuvan

To go into a Sunny Leone film and expect acting and art is foolish.  This is not to comment on her abilities, but more cause of her image and the way she is used in our films. Ek Paheli Leela is another film the list of those that seek to make a quick buck selling assets on Sunny. The only difference being it is a visually slick attempt that at least gives you enough eye candy.

Playing a double role, Sunny is a modern day super star actress who discovers that she was a Desi Rajasthani girl in her past birth. The film goes back and forth between these timezones and gives us a tale of why Sunny was reminded of her past birth now. Packed with vibrant colors and lively frames, Ek Paheli Leela is mounted on a grand scale, aesthetically shot scenes and dance sequences and a basic decent story line and plot.

What the film lacks is talent in terms of direction and acting. Neither Sunny nor the bevy of beefed up men around her can emote even with a gun to their temples. What they lack in acting, they make up for in oomph - that any ways is the main point of the film in the first place.

Sunny Leone is given top billing. Her name features all alone in the credits, she has a double role, she has the maximum skin to show. To her credit, she is comfortable in her skin, uses her innocent looks and come hither moves to the right advantage and ensures the public gets what they came for - cheap titillation. What the film does is not make the titillation too base, shooting the intimate scenes with a little dose of finesse that prevents Ek Paheli Leela from slipping into downright grade A rated flick.

Catch it for Sunny, and nothing else. This might just be the peak of her career.
