Tamil star actor Rajinikanth took to X on Tuesday to express mourning over the passing of Kannada film industry's veteran actor, director and producer Dwarakish. Best known for his comedy roles, Dwarakish (81) passed away in the early hours of April 16, 2024 at his Electronic City residence in Bengaluru. Age-related ailments are suspected to be the cause behind Dwarakish's passing.
The demise of my long time dear friend Dwarakesh is very painful to me..starting his career as a comedian, he raised himself up to being a big producer and director.. fond memories come to my mind..my heartfelt condolences to his family and dear ones..

Born on August 19, 1942 at Hunsur in Mysuru district, Dwarakish made his debut as a comedy actor in Kannada cinema in 1964. After a successful streak in comic roles, Dwarakish debuted as a producer with the famous movie Mayor Mutthanna (1969) starring Rajkumar in the lead. Dwarakish has since has produced a total of 48 movies, and directed 19.

Known as 'Prachanda Kulla' to his fans, Dwarakish's other movies like Kulla Agent 000 (1972) and Guru Shishyaru (1981) are also quite popular among the moviebuffs.
