Sundar C's magnum opus Sangamithra to finally roll from August?

Sundar C announced his magnum opus project Sangamithra last year and the film had a grand launch at Cannes International Film Festival in 2017. The project was initially announced with Shruti Haasan playing the titular role as Sangamithra. After Shruti opted out of the project citing date issues, Bollywood actress Disha Patani was brought on board to replace her. While earlier there were few announcements regarding the project take-off, Sundar C is yet to begin work on the film. Finally reports have surfaced that the film is likely to go on floors in August. However an official confirmation is awaited from the team. 

 

Sangamithra will reportedly be made on a whopping budget of Rs. 400 crores in two installments. Jayam Ravi and Arya play the lead roles apart from Disha Patani. The technical team includes AR Rahman for music and art director Sabu Cyril. Sangamithra touted to be war-drama is being bankrolled by Sri Thenandal FilmsThe film, set in the 8th century AD, will follow Sangamithra’s struggles and inspiring journey to save her kingdom.
