Director Sasikumar's cousin & co-producer commits suicide over pending loans!

Director Sasikumar's cousin Ashok Kumar, who was also his co-producer in many of his films was found hanging in his apartment on Tuesday. Ashok Kumar left behind a 2-page suicide note in which he has named financier Madurai Anbuchezhian as the reason for his decision to commit suicide. It is worth mentioning here that Madurai Anbuchezhian has earlier been accused of charging high rates of interest (termed “run vatti”, “metre vatti” and “kandu vatti” in local parlance) and death threats to film producers and is currently heading a production banner named Gopuram films.

Following this shocking development, director Sasikumar along with Directors Samuthirakani and Ameer has filed a Police complaint against the said financier at Chennai. Speaking to the media on the same, director Ameer has been quoted as saying,

"He was paying interest and interest for interest. How much embarrassment can he take?...The loans sharks want the interest and at the same time, they block the release of the movie. Producers' council must sit and talk about these issues or else it would lose its purpose,"

Tamil Film Producers' council President Vishal on his part has issued the following statement, which comes as a final warning to all the loan-sharks out there.
