Akshay Kumar's 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' wins legal battle

Following the legal battle of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, the legal courts have decided the film has not broken any laws and can release as scheduled.

According to Indian Express reports, Akshay Kumar’s film was embroiled into a copyright infringement case since the start of July.  The makers of the film had been accused of lifting the storyline from another filmmaker who then served legal notice and requested the film’s release to be postponed.

However following three days of arguments presented at the Jaipur courts, it was determined that no such infringement has occurred.  “After hearing arguments for three successive days, the Jaipur Metropolitan Court prima facie found no merit in the case and rejected the application”,

The film is being released by Plan C studios – a three-way alliance between Reliance Entertainment, Friday Filmworks and Viacom 18.  The makers of the film had refuted any claims of copyright and successfully filed against the allegations.

The film is set to release on 11th August and also stars Bhumi Pednekar.
