Tamil Film Producer's Council calls off the industry-wide strike

The Tamil Film Producer's Council (TFPC) led by its president actor Vishal has called off the industry wise strike (read about it here) which was supposed to be held on May 30, 2017. Addressing the media, the council along with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) announced that they are calling off the strike owing to the newly introduced GST which has put the movie-makers in a fix and has forced them to release their films before July 1, 2017 (as the state implemented tax exemptions become void post that).

Added to this, president of TFPC Vishal also said that the council is working towards reducing the additional charges for an online movie ticket reasoning that the movie-goers aren't supposed to be burdened with overt prices. He added that this would also give the producers7 an insight to into the actual number of people watching their content. Regarding the cable TV idea which is also in the cards to be implemeted by the TFPC, Vishal said that the process is still in its nascent stage and its purpose would be to regulate the airing of songs, scenes from movies which is cureently cost free.

He concluded saying that an important initiative for producers of small budget movies and the regulation of proper income for a producer's content by all means will be implemented by the TFPC in the month of June, July and August this year.
