Much like its prequel, Vishwaroopam 2 hit a lot of bumpy roads post shooting, when it came to the technical, financial and legal aspects. It is being said that Aascar Films, producers of the sequel, could not continue the bankrolling the project, as endured heavy financial losses from other films released during the making of Vishwaroopam 2. To add to this their focus was on buying distribution rights and promoting other films to make up for the losses. 

Now, putting a rest to the incertainity over the fate of Vishwaroopam 2, Kamal Haasan has confirmed that he will personally be involved in the process of clearing the path for the movie's release. He assured that the bigger obstacles were sorted out and that only technical and legal issues needs to cleared. Since Visual effects are included in major portions of the film, Haasan has announced that the post production will be taking place for the next 6 months. With these latest developments, the hopes of seeing Vishwaroopam 2 have been revived, leaving the trade experts predicting the movie's release date.
