The blurring line between Tamil and Telugu industries

The blurring line between Tamil and Telugu industries

The line between the Telugu and Tamil film industry is slowly, but surely vanishing. Tamil directors and actors are trying to make a mark in Telugu industry and the Telugu heroes have started acting in direct Tamil movies/bilinguals to gain more mileage. The major reason for this trend is the lack of production houses in Tamil that are willing to produce high budget films and also the Tamil heroes are unwilling to reduce their salary. The production houses prefer to make small or mid-level budget films, which are considered as safe bets. With two to five movies releasing on any given weekend, most of the movies lose majority of screens after their first weekend. Hence, Tamil directors are making a gradual shift to Telugu industry or opt for making bilinguals with saleable stars across both the industries. Similarly, Telugu and Tamil heroes are capitalizing on their popularity across both the industries by acting in bilinguals.

Check out some interesting combinations:

AR Murugadoss - Mahesh Babu

After Thuppakki, AR Murugadoss had to replace top technicians like Harris Jayaraj and Santosh Sivan for Kaththi, to keep the budget limited. However, he will soon be working with Mahesh Babu in a Telugu film, the budget of which is expected to cross Rs 80 crore.

Lingusamy - Allu Arjun

Lingusamy, who faced a series of financial troubles after Anjaan's failure, is now working on a script for his movie with Allu Arjun, which will be a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu.

Gautham Menon - Mahesh Babu
