Excerpts :

How did Veera happen?

I did a movie in Kannada called Namo Bothathma which was a remake of the Tamil film Yaamirukka Bayamey. The producers, R.S. Infotainment had liked my work in the film and that is how I got to screen-test for Veera (Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment is producing this film as well). I got Veera entirely on my screen-test merit; infact I can proudly say that I got both my Tamil (the other being Tamizh Padam 2.0) films through screen-test.

What we know about your character in Veera is you play an Ooty-based girl with a North-Chennai slang? How did that work?

I wouldn't want to reveal too much about my character at this point. I'll say this - I play a girl named Renuka and she is a very cute character. She is cute but she is super-smart too. Veera is a commercial story but it is not a no-logic movie. It was interesting to play my role in a film like this.

Tell us about Tamizh Padam 2.0. The pre-film promotions already seem to be riot!

(laughs) That is CS Amuthan for you! I was so lucky and glad to come on board for this one. I knew the prequel was a parody but Tamizh Padam 2.0 is a full-on laugh riot. There were instances when we ended up laughing while shooting. As a director CS Amuthan knows what he wants and Shashi (of Y NOT Studios), our producer doesn't like to go the typical with his films. Irudhi Suttru and Vikram Vedha left me in awe. Even Gopi Amarnath (cinematographer) for that matter, I have always loved his work and I am glad I could associate with all of them through this movie.

We'll be wrapping up the film by March and as announced by our director, the film will come out on May day.

When you work with well-known names in the industry, does it create pressure?

I wouldn't say so. Pressure factor aside, I would say that it is one's own calibre that is shown in one's work. To me, atleast as an actor I have had not stress shooting films. Besides, Tamizh Padam 2.0 is a fun-movie and filming so far has been a breeze.

Future Projects

For now I am focussing only on Tamil for this is the home space for me. I am in talks for two projects; you will hear it when it is made official.

What can the audience expect from Veera?

Veera has a very different plot and has a unique story-line. I loved working on the film and I hope people love the film as much and it does well.

MovieCrow wishes the spirited Iswarya Menon a very best for her films and hopes she becomes the actress she started out to be!
