Shabana Azmi to play Sonam Kapoor's mother in Neerja Bhanot biopic

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi has been roped in to play Sonam Kapoor's mother in adman Ram Madhvani's second feature film Neerja. The bio-pic on air-hostess Neerja Bhanot who gave up her own life while saving hundreds on board a Pan Am flight in Karachi in 1986. While Sonam Kapoor was signed on to play Neerja from the very outset and has also begun to shoot for the film, Shabana has come on board recently.

Incidentally, Azmi had given away the 2013 Neerja Bhanot Award to Rashmi Anand, a victim of domestic abuse.
