The Lunchbox gets nominated at BAFTA

The movie Lunchbox which received a lot of critical acclaim has been nominated to the prestigious BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards), 2015, in the Film Not In The English Language category. Directed by Ritesh Batra, it stars Irrfan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddique, and tells a unique love story.

“It’s an honour to be nominated alongside the finest films of the year, much credit to my whole team and the work we did together. It’s a good validation to tell Indian stories to the world, if we don’t tell our own stories, no one else will,” Mr. Ritesh Batra said in a press statement.

Love & congrats to the whole team, and thanks @BAFTA for the nomination. So honoured to be nominated alongside my favourite films of the year,” Mr. Batra tweeted earlier.

This one’s sure a Pandora’s Box! A BAFTA nomination for #TheLunchbox!! Big love and congrats to the whole team,” reacted Nimrat Kaur, the model-turned actress who made her debut in the film.

The Lunchbox missed its chance of representing India at the Oscars 2014, as the Film Federation of India chose The Good Road as India's official entry instead.

The BAFTAs will take place on Sunday, February 8.
