Liar’s Dice is India’s 2015 Oscar entry


Geethu Mohandas’ Liar’s Dice is India’s entry in the Foreign Language Film Category for the Oscars in 2015. The Hindi road drama film  is written and directed by actor-turned-director Geethu Mohandas.

 

The film bagged two National Awards this year for cinematography and best actress It had won the Best Actress Award for Thapa and the Best Cinematography for Rajeev Ravi at the National Film Awards. 

 

The film, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Geetanjali Thapa, was picked from 30 nominations received by the Film Federation of India, according to FFI secretary general Supran Sen who spoke to tabloid! from Hyderabad. The movie is about a young mother in rural India who takes her daughter and a pet goat to Delhi in search of her missing husband.

The elated director says, “I’m really feeling good. The hard work and perseverance of the cast and crew has paid off. And being a director of the film, I am really proud at the moment. I was excited when the film was in the nomination list itself.
 
Liar’s Dice was the unanimous choice of the 12-member jury headed by eminent filmmaker T. Hariharan, from over 30 entries. The other films in the fray were Shahid, Queen, Mary Kom,  Mardaani,  2 States, Fandry, Yellow etc.
