BBC Sherlock is getting a Hindi adaptation on OTT

BBC - the UK based broadcasting company has famously brought one too many adaptations of its popular series to India and latest to join the list is the Benedict Cumberbatch starrer Sherlock. Sherlock, based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories ran between 2010 and 2017 in a unique four 3-part format. Each part of these 4 seasons came with a runtime of nearly an hour, and lead star Benedict Cumberbatch used to film high-profile movies in the gap years.

 

BBC India which has previously brought The Office (British/Original version) to Hindi under the same title, Idris Elba starrer Luther as Rudra with Ajay Devgn, Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman starrer The Night Manager under the same name with Aditya Roy Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Doctor Foster as Out of Love, Criminal Justice under the same name, and Press as The Broken News, is now set on bringing Sherlock to Hindi with Kay Kay Menon, Ranvir Shorey and Rasika Dugal. 

 

All of BBC's Indian adaptations premiered on Disney Plus Hotstar OTT except for The Broken News which premiered on Zee 5. It remains to be seen which OTT platform the Sherlock Hindi version will stream on. Acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Srijit Mukherji has been roped in to direct Sherlock Indian version. Kay Kay Menon who was last seen in Raj and DK's Farzi, and Ranvir Shorey are expected to play Sherlock and Dr. Watson respectively.
