Top 10 Actress of Bollywood - 2015

Much like the last year, most of the top movies of the year had a very strong female presence and some excellent performances too. Movies like Piku, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Margarita With A Straw and NH10 are responsible to continue the positive change in industry brought about by Queen and Mary Kom last year. Here’s the list of the best actresses for the year:

1. Kangana Ranaut – Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Kangana from Tanu to the Haryanvi Datto, lifts the movie on her own and the way she is growing in terms of her acting skills with every single movie she does is commendable. How the small detailing and traits of both the characters differ was a class act.

2. Deepika Padukone – Piku

Deepika as Piku Banerjee, a Bengali architect was top-notch and this might just be her career best performance. She was subtle, natural, fun to watch and complemented both veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan beautifully!

3. Anushka Sharma – NH10

Anushka Sharma as the helpless Meera is intense, solid and provides for a very engaging performance. It was a delight to see her experiment with a whole new character in a very dark and violent film. Definitely her career best!

4. Kalki Koechlin – Margarita With A Straw

Kalki as Laila, a girl suffering from a disorder called cerebral palsywas brilliant. It is perhaps one of the most challenging roles for a person to take up and Kalki did perfect justice to it. Her best cinematic performance till date proves her enormous talent on bigger stage shown majorly to the Theater world before.

5. Tillotama Shome - Qissa

Tillotama Shome plays the role of Kanwar, a girl being brought up as a boy and is brilliant when she is trying to figure out whether masculinity or femininity comes naturally to her!

6. Tisca Chopra - Rahasya

Tisca Chopra is known for her acting skills but she took them to an even higher level with her performance in Rahasya as a complex parent whose daughter had been killed and her husband is held responsible for it.Great detailing and a very gripping portrayal!

7. Richa Chaddha - Masaan

Richa Chaddha as Devi, a young girl and a daughter ridden with guilt of a sexual encounter ending in a tragedy is amusing to watch. She portrays Devi’s journey, complexities, rebels and struggles to the very perfection.

8. Priyanka Chopra – Bajirao Mastani

Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, the first wife of king Bajirao who adjusts to the fact that his husband married another womenis amazing to watch and her detailing of the character is worth appreciating. Though, her role is small but she has proved her metal in that small part.

9. Shivani Raghuvanshi - Titli

This Delhi girl is the new find of Bollywood. As Neelu, she is as real as it gets. Delivering such a complex character so easily, she promises a lot of talent and a great deal of potential and her role in Titli is definitely something to watch out for.
