The 100 Crore Club of Bollywood Movies - 2015
Unlike nine movies in 2014 which entered the 100 crore club, this year only six Bollywood films made it to the 100 crore club despite of significant rise in ticket costs and number of screens. Films with huge star-cast like Dil Dhadakne Do and Bombay Velvet failed miserably at box-office. Salman fandom proved to be the top pulling force for Bollywood this year. Here’s the list of films that made it to the club this year:
1. Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Total Collection – 324 Crores)
Salman power combined with a good story lead to Bajrangi Bhaijaan crossing 300 crores and be the second highest grosser of all times just below PK.
2. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo –(Total Collection – 211 Crores)
Although not a very good film, but again thanks to Bhai and Sooraj Badjatia’s appeal to the family audiences, that the film was able to cross the 200 landmark.
3. Tanu Weds Manu Returns – (Total Collection – 151 Crores)
TWMR made the audience laugh out and out with its comic punches and was a complete paisa-vasool movie from the word go. From the songs, to the performances, to the script, everything about this film was entertaining and thus was able to pull the crows in huge number.
4. Bajirao Mastani - (Total Collection – 132Crores, Still Running)
From the beautiful sets to the scintillating costumes combining with the amazing cinematography, everything about this film mesmerizes you. Therefore more and more people are going to watch this cinematic experience in theaters. Plus of course, Deepika-Ranveer-Priyanka fandom.
5. Dilwale –(Total Collection – 130Crores, Still Running)
It can’t happen that a SRK starrer and Rohit Shetty’s directorial film doesn’t fetch 100 crores. But yes, if it doesn’t make 200 crores which seems very distant as of now, than it is a problem to worry about.
6. Bahubali - (Total Collection – 118Crores)
Baahubali on other hand was an overwhelming surprise as its Hindi-dubbed version grossed over the 100 crore mark. It also sets an accomplishment of the first South Indian movie to cross the landmark.
7. ABCD 2 (Total Collection – 105 Crores)
Touted as one of the biggest dance movies in India, people went crazy to watch this Varun Dhawan starrer ABCD 2! Plus ABCD became a cult among the dancing janta.
