Thagararu - An interesting premise amidst the din

Thagararu defitinitely scores in one area. It never bores you. Things keep moving at a lively pace. But if there is more you are looking for then Thagararu could disappoint you. That someone who takes a sickle dies by it has been told umpteen times in Tamil Cinema. For that to make an impact either you should identify yourself with the protagonist or he should atleast be someone who is put into that position without his consent. (more)

Standing up for friendship

There is never a dull moment in the taut story, there are certain portions where dialogues seem repetitive. However, that really don't seem to be a problem in the screenplay that is highly supportive of friendship. Dillraj has put his heart to canning all shots, with exceptional perfection, especially in the underwater chase sequence and the fight on narrow lanes in the dark. While Dharan's music is an interesting aid, Praveen Sathya's background score is exceptionally good and very unique. From melting love and compelling friendship to unparalleled revenge, 'Thagaraaru' is a complete entertainer with an unbelievable surprise. (more)

Thagaraaru has its share of madurai violence, friendship and cliches, but is a one time watch for its climax.

Those who bask in Madurai fanaticism will have some takeaway from Thagaraaru, the rest will be left without caring for the characters or their motives. (more)
