Update -  Gemini Circuit retains the Nanban rights

In an interesting last minute development just 4 days before movie release, Sun Pictures got into a discussion with Gemini Circuit for buying the rights for Nanban. The negotiations and discussions happened until last morning and finally the deal was reached for Sun Pictures to be the promotional partners only. This potential development has come in for a lot of surprise because Vijay and Sun Pictures were locking horns until recently.

With business for Nanban completed only for Salem, many options were considered including releasing the movie directly or selling it to Sun Pictures. There are strong sources confirming the meeting between the executives of Sun Pictures and Manohar Prasad of Gemini Film Circuit happened on Monday. The plans to include the Sun Pictures lettering in the title card were even made. After arriving at a final decision after the meeting, all the initial plans were called back and orders flew immediately to maintain status-quo. At this point, Gemini Circuit will retain the rights and release Nanban directly.
