The GOAT Life: When Hans Zimmer replied before AR Rahman for Prithviraj, Blessy's Aadujeevitham

Aadujeevitham aka The GOAT Life is an upcoming survival drama which is scheduled to release in theaters on March 28, 2024 worldwide. The movie is based on an eponymous novel, which recounts the real life events of an abused Malayali migrant worker, employed as a goatherd in Saudi Arabia against his will.

Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Najeeb, the central character in Aadujeevitham aka The GOAT Life.  During a recent press interaction in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the actor was all praises for AR Rahman who has composed music for The GOAT Life. Prithviraj Sukumaran also shared an amusing anecdote from the days the team was deciding on the music composer of the film.

"The first discussion we had (for The GOAT Life) is who is doing the music. Only two names we had in mind; ofcourse when you dream you can dream limitlessly. So two names we discussed. One , first name is AR Rahman sir. And second name is Hans Zimmer.

We actually (e)mailed both Hans Zimmer sir and AR Rahman sir. And we got the reply first from Hans Zimmer's team I think [AR Rahman is amused at this]. Because I think we mailed the wrong email address (of AR Rahman's). So Hans Zimmer's team, maybe a manager replied (for Aadujeevitham) and said we could see into it.

But then we got the opportunity to get the access to (AR) Rahman sir. At that time we didn't even know how to get to AR Rahman sir. Although for us in Kerala, we still think he's one of us since his first movie Yoddha (released as second movie in 1992) was in Malayalam. If you say Rahman sir in Kerala, people relate to him like a Malayalee only.

Finally we got access to him. When we say faculty of a genius, the expert is not only in his or her own craft. You should be able to spot something special. By that measure, he (AR Rahman) is one of the greatest geniuses to have lived in our times. I think it is that, that in the very first meeting, AR Rahman understood that we are trying to pull off something very special. He said yes, I'm doing the film.

When Rahman sir's name got associated with the project is when, suddenly the film attracted recognition. Even in Kerala at that time (i.e. the year 2018), people went 'Oh is AR Rahman doing the movie? Is the film that big then?'. That kind of talk really helped the movie during the setting up stage. So I have to take this opportunity to thank Rahman sir for showing the faith and the trust in this project, and more importantly in (writer, director) Blessy's vision."
